Dreams…
I’ve studied dreams for, well, a long time now—relatively long. It’s interesting to think that, when you are dreaming your brains could actually be creating a new consciousness for each dream character!
You can interact with these “dream characters,” not knowing how they will respond. And a lot of times, the dream character will have better logic than you, in your “dreamy, rationalizing everything” state of mind.
This brings me to imagine a possible future of artificially intelligent beings, robot-like, perhaps. You head to work, plug in, and are immersed in a dream state. Ah, enjoy it…
Your own consciousness might relax on some beautiful dreamscape beach, somewhere, possibly interacting with others in the same state. Basically you are in a sense, donating the rest of your brain, your intelligence, so that it may control, empower, give life to, robots in the daily workforce—out there.
Each robot would be lent it’s own, and in turn, a completely separate consciousness that would allow it the ability to function no different from any single, smart-thinking human being. And each “plugged in” human would have enough brain power to power several robots, hundreds perhaps, more, generating a unique and necessary consciousness for each.

“Lenders” became a reality almost 5 years later.
Get utterly destroyed by Lenders I: The Unlicensed Consciousness. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Get wholly obliterated by Lenders II: The Time Tribulations. You’ve been warned, but still want more?
Want to get started with “lucid dreaming?” Well, just by acknowledging it, you have already begun. You might, now, have your first lucid dream tonight.
Follow the universe, listen to it, actually listen. Be lucid, attentive, look around…
The universe will speak to you. You are not as alone as you think you are.
