Travis Borne’s review:
Disturbing, Alfred-Hitchcock clever, and all-out freakin’-out, Martha’s stories deliver!
Eight steamy, erotic, and sometimes very intense, adrenaline-pumping stories that’ll deliver chills and shocking endings. Suspenseful twists and clever turns that are sure to keep you wide awake, jolted while saying, “did she really do that,” or “poor dude, ya just can’t catch a break,” and mostly, wanting the next tale to send you, really, who knows where, for these stories are each unique and clever for their very own reason, different. Of the eight short stories, my two favorites are The Boathouse and The Lie that Binds. 5 stars for unpredictability, steaminess that turned my face red (for I’m not generally used to reading stories that are so HOT), and agape mouth once in a while saying, “holy—” Just the raw unpredictability of original tales that are sure to activate your fight or flight or freeze response. Besides “disturbing,” Alfred-Hitchcock clever, and all-out freaking-out, Martha’s story brings to mind a new word I learned:
[free-sohn; French free-sawn]
noun, plural fris·sons [free-sohnz; French free-sawn] /friˈsõʊ̃z; French friˈsɔ̃/.
a sudden, passing sensation of excitement; a shudder of emotion; thrill!
